I’m the founder and owner of Cambium Data, an IT company based in Omaha, Nebraska. We serve businesses in the Omaha and Lincoln areas. Here’s how I got here.
The Navy, 1991
I grew up in Sioux City, Iowa, and joined the U.S. Navy after high school. I served as a Fire Controlman (FC2). In 1991, I started working on the Navy’s military computer systems. That’s where I learned networking and began my IT career.
Building a career in IT
After the Navy, I started in desktop support. From there, I moved into network engineering and leadership roles at MCI/Worldcom, West Corporation, Worknet, APAC Customer Services, DTN and Go2Call. I also attended the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) and studied MIS.
CCIE #7112, 2001
In March 2001, I earned my Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification. My number is 7112. In 2022, Cisco granted me lifetime Emeritus status. Today, I’m CCIE #7112 Emeritus.
Founding Cambium Data, 2009
I founded Cambium Data in Omaha in June 2009. Our first customer was in Lincoln, so we’ve worked in both cities since we opened. In 2010, Cambium Data won the Cisco SMB Partner of the Year award. Today, we’re a Cisco Premier Partner.
Today
I still own Cambium Data and lead it as president and CEO. We provide IT support, security and network infrastructure for small and mid-sized businesses in the Omaha and Lincoln areas. The company is Navy veteran-owned. I stay involved in the technology work we do, and I’m always glad to talk with business owners about their technology. Learn more about Cambium Data.
Outside work
Family, racing and flying
Family comes first for me. I’m a dad and a grandpa. When I have free time, I race an NC MX-5 in the NASA ST5 class and fly a Cirrus SR22T.
